Hiking to Victoria Peak, Hong Kong

As I wanted to do what the locals do on weekends, SF decided to bring us to the hiking trail to Victoria Peak on the morning of day 2 in Hong Kong.
We woke up not too early, bought some freshly baked polo buns and started our walk uphill towards the more expensive residential area at Central. Just in case you didn't know, the higher we climb, the residential area price tag ascends too..
When I saw the first flight of steep steps, I was thrilled that we are starting our ascend..Most unfortunately, it was still towards higher level residential area.. :(
And when we finally started our real trail up Victoria Peak, we were nicely warmed up..hehe..
We trekked higher and higher..One windy path after another..with more signboards showing us how near we were to the Peak..
Throughout the trail, we were treated with glimpses of Central, parts of Hong Kong Island, views across to Tsim Sha Tsui, a reservoir, some far off bridge (maybe near Tsing Yi?)..which were all very breathtaking and I felt so very serene up there. Rather amazing that there's green lung smacked right in the middle of Central :)
Finally, we reached the Peak and was greeted by this sight..Apparently there were some 'amazing race' going on that morning..
We descended after a short break and the trail down hill was as lovely as up (though descending was wayyy easier!). Oh, and there was one area of the hill filled with eagles, soaring up the clear blue skies..such graceful and regal creatures. Lovely.
Halfway downhill, we saw the map of the trail we took... SF, was our trail the black dotted line surrounding the yellow area?
All I recalled was a rather big area when you pointed out to us ;p hehehe
We spent a good 2 hours plus for the whole trail as we took a rather relaxing pace, but I felt great after completing it. And also, I was darn hungry when we were done....does not help that I knew we were going for dim sum after this :D
So, rather than taking the tram/ bus up to Victoria Peak the next time, why dont you try a hike up instead? :)
