Charming Ho Chi Minh

Yes, I am down to my final post on Vietnam. I figured I'd better stop before I get a good trashing from people who's so sick of reading about Vietnam....After filling you with so many posts on Vietnamese cuisine, guess I'll need to complete the loop by writing on places of interest in HCM :)

The Reunification Palace in HCM City is usually a compulsory stop for tourists...It's the former presidential palace in south Vitenam..Just a stroll away is the War Museum, which I didnt take any picture of..

The Notre Dame Cathedral, a famous historical place in HCM City..
Located just next to it..The Central Post Office. Managed to buy some really cute stamps for my dad..
There's also the People's Committee building nearby..And if you are hungry, you may want to hop on the dinner cruise on Saigon river..
Else, there's always wonderful live band and sipping drinks al fresco at one of the hotels..Enjoying the night scenery..

One must not miss the famous Cu Chi Tunnels..But if you are claustrophobic, you'd better no try going into the tunnel...

We managed to witness the daily mass by Caodaism followers, which was pretty interesting. The Cao Dai temple is located approximately 100 km from HCM..
Whats so special? This is a religion that combines Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism and Catholic..Talk about muhibbah eh? Oh, and the temple's real colourful too..
We went to nearby lacquer factory to see the production of lacquer ware..
Mekong Delta was interesting..
Visiting sleepy My Tho town before taking a row boat ride in the tight canal snaking one of the nearby islands..
Storm was brewing when we were leaving Mekong delta..Though I must say that I do like this shot..
And so ends my trip in Ho Chi Minh....And also my posts on Vietnam..
Hope you find it useful, maybe for your future trip to Vietnam? I was there for 9 days, and I must say that it's not sufficient..we didnt even get to visit Central Vietnam.. *sniffs*
Last but not least, a BIG thank you to Jeffrey for being such a gracious host! We will never forget your hospitality :)
And to Dragongirl, thanks for being such a fantastic back packing kaki, I've enjoyed the years of travelling with you :). Though one is almost deaf and the other; with the softest voice ever; we still make good travelling mates.hehe. Here's to many more trips to come!

Hi SC, Vietnam looks really good after following your series of adventure. Out of curiosity, what is inside Chu Chi Tunnel?

imbi&itchy: cu chi tunnel was used during vietnam war..the vietnamese lived in there during the war..different levels serves different purposes..first level are traps for enemies..etc. we were only allowed to try the 'fake' tunnel which was rather scary actually..

There shouldn't be any major changes since the last time you came ... maybe more urbanization (high rises) and more local eateries (nice, no?). Well, anytime is not a bad time ... but if you do plan to come with ML, i suggest year-end because the weather is cooler :)
